Meet the founder

I’m Dieter Denham—a Royal Navy veteran and Advanced Nurse Practitioner. My background in military medicine, emergency care and advanced clinical practice taught me to gather evidence, challenge assumptions, communicate clearly and take risk seriously.

The founder story

A career built around better decisions.

My professional background spans military medicine, A&E, urgent care and advanced clinical practice. In each of those environments, decisions have consequences. You learn to collect the relevant information, separate evidence from noise, identify risk and explain the next step clearly.

When I became immersed in analysing property deals, I noticed that much of the education focused on headline profits and quick wins. The true costs, assumptions, downside and exit strategy were often harder to see.

Property and healthcare are very different fields, but sound decisions share the same foundations: use the available evidence, make the assumptions visible, test the downside and know when specialist advice is needed. Brick & Balance applies that disciplined mindset to practical property education.

I’m building the platform independently alongside full-time clinical work and family life—carefully, transparently and without pretending to have all the answers.

What my background brings

01
Evidence before opinion Start with the relevant information and show what supports the conclusion.
02
Risk made explicit Consider what could change, what the consequences are and how to respond.
03
Complexity made practical Turn technical information into clear steps people can understand and apply.

The Brick & Balance method

Five questions behind every deal.

The same practical sequence runs through the calculator, worked examples and downloadable resources.

1

Evidence

What do sold comparables, achievable rent, local demand and condition support?

2

True cost

What is the complete cash requirement after finance, fees, works and contingency?

3

Return

What do cash flow, yield and cash-on-cash return look like after realistic costs?

4

Downside

What happens when rates rise, rent falls or the project costs more than expected?

5

Exit

How does the deal end—and what alternatives remain if the first plan changes?
